The Sioux Falls School District will not file any other appeals in a legal fight over whether an elementary teacher can lead an after-school Bible study.A panel of the Eighth US Circuit Court of Appeals said denying teacher Barbara Wigg the chance to lead the Good News Club violates her First Amendment rights. The club meets at Laura B. Anderson Elementary, where Wigg is a third-grade teacher. The Good News Club leases meeting space from the school. The appeals court also told the school district to pay $124,000 to cover Wigg's legal costs and lawyer fees. © 2004 KELOLAND TV.
